Hi Barbara,

Thank you for your kind invitation to your Community Celebration Weekend, it is much appreciated.

We would love to support it.

The Food Bank has a very high profile in Leyland and is well known.

If this is OK with you, we would like to use the opportunity to raise the profile of and increase referrals for Leyland Furniture Bank instead?

There is an awful lot of “furniture poverty” in South Ribble and we would like to reach and help a lot more people.

At your discretion, we can:

  • Give a presentation if required
  • Show a Furniture Bank banner in the Saturday exhibition and distribute explanatory hand out cards.
  • Have representatives present during the 10am to 4pm duration on Saturday to chat to visitors.
  • We can also send a representative to the launch event on Friday evening if required.

Teresa Smith is the leader of our team.

Leyland Furniture Bank provides a responsive service and in 2025 helped 270 families and individuals by collecting or delivering pre-loved furniture. Furniture deliveries occur on average seven times a month, through a dedicated team of volunteer van crew and admin support, furniture runs happen for 48 weeks a year.

The Furniture Bank helps families fleeing domestic violence, rehoused, leaving prison or the care system, or those struggling to make ends meet, the disabled, those who have fled domestic violence, those who have mental health problems, refugees and those who have left a refuge, prison or the care system.

The Furniture Bank is always looking for volunteers and in recent weeks 2 asylum seekers have joined the van crew, providing them with opportunities to learn English, get work experience and at the same time provide much needed support to the volunteers.
